A special note of thanks
When Lisa and Mike were here last time (December 16th), we realized that they have just passed their 1 year anniversary of recording at Euphonic Studio, usually coming in for a session every 2 weeks. I feel extremely thankful, gratified, and humbled to have an artist of Lisa’s caliber recording here for one session, let alone one year. Thanks to Lisa and Mike for your music, your friendship, and your business.
Lisa Tracy is an extremely accomplished singer/songwriter and has done 4 CDs at studios in California, Colorado, and Iowa. Since a typical commercial CD has about 12 to 15 songs on it, and since Lisa has written many, many dozens of songs more than that, she and her husband Mike decided to write down the names of all of these extra songs and record them before they get forgotten completely! Mike and Lisa are about the same vintage as me so whenever we get together it feels like home.
Here’s what Mike said regarding recording at Euphonic Studio:
Lisa and I have been working with Bill at Euphonic Studio for 6 months now, recording about every two weeks. Lisa has done four different recording projects over the years at a variety of studios, but this has been by far the most enjoyable. Bill is easy to work with and has extremely valuable input and advice. He took plenty of time up front to find out what we were looking for in the recording experience and what sound we were hoping to achieve. Bill tried a wide variety of microphone and pre-amp set-ups until we had just what we wanted. His own experience as a musician and a technician gives him the insight from both the performer’s and the engineer’s point of view. We have completed 12 songs and have a bunch yet to go. I would highly recommend Bill and his work at Euphonic Studio to anyone looking for a good experience in recording.
That’s a very nice testimonial. I am going to add to it that Lisa and Mike are very easy to work with and they recorded through a bunch of technology changes here. We started out with the Aardvark 24/96s on a 2 GHz machine using Sonar 5, went through a pair of M-Audio Delta 1010s, and now we’re using top quality mics into terrific preamps including a Focusrite 428 into a Dell i5 running Sonar 8.5 Producer and X1 Producer, an RME Fireface UFX, and a passel of top quality tools such as Autotune, Celemony Melodyne, and plugins by DDMF, Voxengo, Bootsie, and many others.
On to the music.
Here are Lisa’s songs as recorded at Euphonic Studio. The order is NOT chronological but I will fix that later. Lisa and Mike have instructed me specifically that these are not to be mixed as if they were part of one contiguous group (like a CD). Therefore you may hear some marked differences between recordings as I experimented with different plugins and hardware.
Since Lisa usually produces 2 more songs every 2 weeks, you should find this page growing considerably. I think I’ll put the new ones on the top, but please don’t forget to enjoy her whole catalog. I believe that you will find Lisa’s take on spiritual matters to be interesting, musically challenging, and beautifully performed.
This page has fallen way behind on updates. I am going to try to sort through this problem and fix it ASAP. Lisa has recorded 25 songs here, I need to get them all up! I will probably end up remixing some or all of these as my equipment and vst signal processing has advanced remarkably since she began working here. Also… please bear with me while I clean up a couple of extra noises at the beginning of one or two of these tracks. I’ve heard that done on a couple of top selling albums (one James Taylor LP comes to mind) but I shouldn’t presume to do that here. 🙂
